Kotsubo debuted in W*ING in 1994, but soon adopted the gimmick of Tsubo Genjin, a primitive man. In 1995 Genjin had the opportunity to work in ECW and trained with the Malenko family. After his return to Japan, Kotsubo mainly worked shoot-style matches in BattlARTS. The Tsubo Genjin character was later used in Toryumon and in Michinoku Pro and since 2003 he has been a freelancer.
