Obata trained in K-DOJO. Set to debut in 2004 he suffered a neck injury, which postponed his debut to 2005. Obata was immediately a success, winning the K-Dojo newcomer award in 2005. In 2006 Obata left K-Dojo to join Apache Pro. In 2008 Obata was announced to be one of the members of Kintaro Kanemura's XWF promotion.
