Trained by Masanobu Kuriso, Okumura debuted in 1993. He spent the early years of his career in Tokyo Pro and later briefly formed a tag team with Nobutaka Araya in WAR. Okumura also toured in Canada before joining AJPW in 1998, and continued to work for the promotion until 2003. In 2003 he moved to Mexico, where he achieved a good deal of success in CMLL.
