Fuji originally trained at the New Japan Dojo and traveled to Canada for a training expedition with Stu Hard before his debut. Despite suffering a couple of serious injuries in the early years of his career, Fuji had success when he returned to wrestle full time in Japan due to his rockstar gimmick and his mic skill. After FMW collapsed, Fuji abandoned mainstream puroresu, following Mr. Gannosuke in WMF and starting to work in the independent circuit.
