2008 Recap:
After a career in sumo wrestling, Hama debuted in All Japan Pro Wrestling on November 3rd at Sumo Hall. Even though he lost to Akebono, the crowd loved him and he showed a lot of potential. In the Real World Tag League in December, Hama teamed with Keiji Mutoh but they would come in 5th place out of eight.

2009 Recap:
2009 started out rough for Hama. While he showed the passion for wrestling, at first he had trouble adjusting and was clearly struggling at various times during matches. But the crowd loved him as did Mutoh, and as the year progressed his skills noticeably improved. At the August 30th Sumo Hall event, Hama teamed with Masayuki Kono and Akebono to defeat Zodiac, TARU, and Doering (Hama got the pin on Zodiac). After a year long feud with Suzuki (mostly one sided), Hama got his revenge when on September 23rd he teamed with Akebono to defeat Suzuki and NOSAWA Rongai for the All Asia Tag Team Championship. They successfully defended the titles on October 24th against TARU and Joe Doering, showing that it wasn't just a fluke. In the Real World Tag League he and Akebono did well, including a win over the All Japan World Tag Team Champions Suzuki and Kea, but a loss to Suwama and Masayuki Kono on the last day kept them out of the Finals.
