Originally not known for its Jr. Heavyweight division, after Keiji Mutoh took over as President, All Japan slowly began inviting talented young Jr. Heavyweight to the promotion to diversify their shows. By 2006 the Jr. Heavyweight division was as strong as the heavyweight division, with stars such as Kaz Hayashi, TAKA Michinoku, Shuji Kondo, and young star Katsuhiko Nakajima.
